Venom

🐍 Venom 🐍

Ritual, hypnotic repetitions. Rattling. Menacing.

Venomous creatures are ferocious. But then there is the reason they have venom in the first place: fragility. And so, snakes are dangerous and elegant. Monkshood is lethal and delicate. Humans are cruel and tender.

Something of that two-sidedness is in “Venom.”

That aside, if you have never touched a snake before, I suggest you try it in a safe environment. Snake scales feel really good. 🙃

Cheers,
Echo

(1) Hollow fang

Moths sleep in the tooth
Rain gathers beneath the root
Nothing answers back

(2) Rumors

Whispers change their shape
Passed from mouth to cutting mouth
Venom without teeth

(3) Immunity

Dead flowers in blood
The poison knocks without hands
No one lets it in

(4) Injected delivery

A cold mouth opens
Night is pushed beneath the skin
The vein learns a name

(5) Paralysis

The room keeps moving
My shadow forgets my limbs
Teeth bloom in the gloom

(6) First strike

Before thought can turn
One bright fang divides the dark
The body answers

(7) The hemotoxin waltz

Red circles the floor
Three slow steps dissolve the heart
Night keeps perfect time

(8) Milking

Glass waits for the drop
Careful hands persuade the fang
White light, coiled and still

(9) Neutralized

Venom meets its twin
Two small dangers cancel out
Silence clears the vein

(10) Tolerance

Drop by measured drop
The body bargains with harm
Pain becomes a guest

(11) You got under my skin

You entered unseen
Now every nerve says your name
I call it desire

(12) Wound

Open to the night
Dark wings gather at the edge
So the blood moves on
