They say, “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”
I say, “If you want to go at all, go alone at first.” Because, time and again, you know what happens to those who wait around for others to join them? They don’t go at all. Sometimes, there is even the nuance of false humility; the display of show-offy “I care about the opinions of others, that’s why I’m not doing this alone.”
But all that is just an excuse not to go at all.
If a person wants to go, if they actually want to go… they’re better off going alone, not waiting around for the opinions of others. It’s not about going fast. It’s about going at all.
Then, once they’re already going, they will inevitably encounter others who are also already going. That’s when, naturally, spontaneously, without making excuses and applying weird moral standards that rely on making oneself small and powerless, they will be going together.
And then the paths might diverge again. At which point, a person might be going alone again. It doesn’t matter. Paths diverge and converge all the time. A person can’t rely on that to decide whether to go or not.
If a person has realized that they do want to go, and has decided that they will indeed go… well then, just go. Keep going. Keep riding.
That’s what this EP is about. Into the wild, toward the horizon, wild wild, free free, open open.
